Willie Campbell (born 25 October 1958) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known for his work with the band The Blue Nile. Campbell was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He began playing guitar at the age of eight. He attended the Glasgow School of Art, where he studied painting and sculpture. After graduation, he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. He also played in various bands, most notably The Blue Nile. The Blue Nile released their debut album, A Walk Across the Rooftops, in 1984. The album was a critical and commercial success, and established Campbell as a talented songwriter and musician. The band released two more albums, Hats (1989) and Peace at Last (1996), before going on hiatus. In 2003, Campbell released his debut solo album, entitled Souvenir. The album was a critical and commercial success, and earned Campbell a Scottish Album of the Year Award. He has since released two more albums, The Water of Life (2006) and The Wheelhouse (2009). Campbell is a talented songwriter, guitarist, and singer. He is best known for his work with the band The Blue Nile. He has released three solo albums, and has won a Scottish Album of the Year Award.
