Chris Tomlin is an American contemporary Christian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on May 4, 1972, in Grand Prairie, Texas, and grew up in Dallas. Tomlin began his career as a worship leader at South Baptist Church. He later joined the Christian contemporary music group dc Talk, before embarking on a solo career in 2001. Tomlin has released 15 studio albums, two of which have been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His songs "How Great Is Our God" and "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" have reached the top of the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. In 2014, Tomlin was named Artist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards, and in 2015, he was named Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards.
