Heap was part of the electronic music duo Frou Frou with Guy Sigsworth from 2002 to 2003 before embarking on a solo career. She also received the Brit Award for British Single of the Year in 2010 for her single "Hide and Seek". In 2015, she was ranked 66th on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential musicians in the world. Born in Horsham, England, Imogen Heap was inspired by the music of Simon & Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell. She began writing her own songs at the age of 13 and studied music at the University of Brighton, where she met Guy Sigsworth, her future Frou Frou collaborator. Signing with the Almo Sounds label in 1997, she released her first album iMegaphone, which was a commercial success. Her subsequent albums, Speak for Yourself (2005), Ellipse (2009), and Sparks (2014), were also well-received and reached the top of the UK charts. Recognized for her talent, Imogen Heap was listed by Time as one of the 100 most influential musicians in the world in 2015 and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to music in 2016.
