"Pitbull, also known as Mr. Worldwide, full name Armando Christian Pérez, is an American rapper, singer, producer, and entrepreneur born on January 15, 1981, in Miami, Florida. Considered one of the most popular artists of his generation, Pitbull has sold over five million albums and singles worldwide.
Growing up in a disadvantaged neighborhood in Miami, Pitbull was exposed to violence and crime. He began rapping at the age of ten, with his style influenced by Cuban and Puerto Rican artists such as Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, and Tito Puente. In 2001, he signed a contract with Luther Campbell, leader of the rap group 2 Live Crew, and released his first album M.I.A.M.I.
Pitbull achieved commercial success with his second album, El Mariel (2006), certified platinum and peaking at number two on the Billboard 200. His third album, The Boatlift (2007), reached the top of the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum. He continued his success with Rebelution (2009), Armando (2010), Planet Pit (2011), Global Warming (2012), Melbourne (2013), Globalization (2014), and Dale (2015), all certified platinum or double platinum.
In 2013, he was named "Man of the Year" by Time magazine and "Artist of the Year" by Billboard in 2014. Pitbull was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016 and was named "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine in 2015."
